How To Take Care Of Yourself After A Gastric Bypass Surgery

Going through an invasive procedure can be a bit tough. You need to prepare yourself before that procedure so that you can be in your ideal and stable condition during the operation. You even have to prepare for what would happen after that. After care is a very common concern for those going through an invasive procedures, especially if it is a gastric bypass surgery in Mexico.

There should be various after care tips you can follow for this. For example, you have to know that your body will need vitamins for recuperation. You will be eating less for the sake of not burdening your stomach so you need to supplement vitamins. By keeping up with your intake of multivitamins, you can easily get proper nutrition despite eating less.

You should then remember to drink water daily to keep the body hydrated. You need to drink at least one and a half to two liters of water daily. Even though that is quite difficult after the procedure because of your reduced stomach size, you have to force yourself to drink water if you do not want to suffer complications.

Avoid those food that has high sugar and fat content. You have to stay away from them because they technically have high calorie content. As a post op procedure, you are not allowed to consume a high number of calories. This is so that you can avoid symptoms that will make you suffer such as vomiting and abdominal cramps.

As you know, water is very crucial for post op. However, take it at the proper time and at a proper amount. If you can, you should avoid drinking water in large amounts in one sitting. Also, avoid doing so before eating and a bit after meal. Try to avoid drinking forty minutes before meals and a bit over twenty minutes after one.

Alcoholic drinks or carbonated drinks are a no-no when it comes to the after care. After all, these are just full of empty calories. If you persist on drinking alcoholic or carbonated drinks, you will just be upsetting your new stomach as well as your small intestines. To get more explanation about this, ask your post op doctor.

Do not forget to do some light exercises. This should be extremely helpful for you. Once you are capable of getting out into the sun, then you should try to walk a bit around the yard. You can even do so around the neighborhood. By exercising, you can prevent the muscles from getting stiff. Avoid rigorous exercises though.

Your body is your boss. Thus, you need to listen to it. Only eat food when you are actually hungry. Stop eating when you are already full. Do not be greedy when it comes to food, especially after the operation because it will just add stress to your stomach. If you can, you should ask for a diet from your doctor.

Be prepared for all of these changes. Even though they are just small changes, they can still do a lot to you. Of course, the said operation will not change your whole life. It just means that it is a step that you can use to build up a proper diet for yourself.
