As always, portion control is better than suppressing yourself.

Keep track of the time that you've been eating too. Some people tend to have this habit of waking up in the middle of the night and while they are on peeking through the fridge, end up munching a bunch of stuff. Avoid this habit. It is best that you keep your eating hours up to until 6 o'clock in the evening only. There should be no good beyond that to allow the digestive system to function faster.

Make sure that get a good night's sleep. Always. Some people often think that skipping on some hours of sleep is not really that bad. It is though, especially if you're in senior years. This is going to cause you to lose on the opportunity of being able to burn out some of those unwanted fats that you acquired. So, get at least 8 hour of wink time every night.

It is important o keep your stress at bay too. Remember, different people tend to have different coping methods when it comes to addressing these negative feelings; there are those that make up for such stressful feelings by spending more time in their kitchen. You cannot have that. A positive outlook in life is definitely going to help you avoid those stress eating sessions.

Try taking to your doctor too. You would be surprised at the number of things that he can do for you. Some people have slower fat burning capacity due to underlying conditions. Your doctor may be able to address the issue and help you be on your way to a healthier, leaner you.
